Oct 31, 2019 · I performed the Netgear WNDR3700v2 7dbi antenna mod and I got some bad news. I decided that I was going to do some upgrades to my Netgear WNDR3700v2 router with a 7dbi antenna mod which I bought off of eBay. This blog entry is to post my findings for all as a warning that the days of adding bigger antennae to a balanced “N” router is over.

When I install v1.0.1.14 my WNDR3700v2 (v1.0.0.32) it responds with this message: "The version you are trying to install is incorrect!" Just like that, including the exclamation. The file I uploaded to the router was: WNDR3700v2_WNDR37AVv2-V1.0.1.14.img which was inside the zip file downloaded from Netgear's support website:
Sep 23, 2009 · The Netgear WNDR3700 RangeMax router is one of the sleekest routers in Netgear's RangeMax family, with a shiny black chassis, which also happens to be a fingerprint magnet. The router is designed Netgear's four-port gigabit, simultaneous dual-band WNDR3700 Wi-Fi router proved a joy to use. It was stable and glitch-free, with easy media serving. However, bliss only commenced after setup and configuration.
