What is the difference between the netstat and nbtstat commands? Nbtstat is used to display statistics for protocols and connections with TCP/IP using NBT(netbios over TCP/IP). It is also used to update the LMHOSTS cache and determines your registered name and scope ID.

After a while I figured out that if I launched a command prompt using the usual shortcut I had been using, nbtstat would not be found. Nbtstat access to the Internet is blocked by your ISP or (if you have a own net) by your router/firewall too. This program can get special information about remoted machine.
